Accreditation is a comprehensive process for evaluating and certifying the quality of education and is designed to assure students and the greater public that an educational institution meets or exceeds standards of good practice recognized by the educational community. Accreditation assures that college course credits, associate degrees, and occupational certificates will be recognized by other colleges and universities, guaranteeing that academic work may be transferred in pursuit of advanced degrees.

San Diego City College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 331 J Street, Suite 200, Sacramento, CA 95814, (415) 506-0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Additional information about accreditation, including the filing of complaints against member institutions, can be found at: www.accjc.org.

City College's most recent review by ACCJC was a Follow-Up Report and Visit in October/November 2018. Documents and correspondence can be found under the Reports link in the left menu. Preparations for the next review are detailed under the 2024 Review and ISER Development link.
