Gerald A. Ramsey - Chairperson
As a San Diego residence since 1984, Gerald Ramsey has served as a higher education administrator for more than three decades. His primary focus was providing leadership for education equity programs.
Ramsey has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a master's in Education. He is a student-centered administrator whose experience includes service in three of California's post-secondary segments, public 4-year, private proprietary, and California community colleges. This includes three years of service as student services administrator in a private proprietary college, four years of service as student financial aid administrator at the University of California campus (Santa Barbara), and 34 years as an administrator in California community colleges -- 28 years at San Diego City College and six years at San Diego Miramar College
In addition to his assigned duties at the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD), Ramsey was elected and served as a San Diego Community College Management Association Board member. He was president for five years.
Ramsey has been an active fund raiser for and supporter of community organizations, various projects and selected political campaigns/initiatives. He has served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of San Diego, San Diego CAL-SOAP, California ARCHES, and San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce. He has been a volunteer for Voices for Children. For the last 32 years, he has served as a board member for The San Diego Citizens Scholarship Foundation.
Ramsey retired from the SDCCD in August 2018 but continues to provide formal and informal mentoring for young professionals and college students.
