In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TRIO Upward Bound Program has transitioned to e-services and online learning opportunities until further notice. The TRIO Upward Bound Program will continue to operate our office virtually during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm) via email, text, phone, Zoom, Canvas and other modalities. Our Goal
Upward Bound is a TRIO Program designed to help provide high school students with educational and personal support services that will increase high school graduation and college enrollment and persistent rates.
Upward Bound
The TRIO Upward Bound (UB) program at San Diego City College a federally-funded grant sponsored by the Department of Education. UB Participants receive one-on-one mentoring from professional counselors to guide them through post-secondary admission and financial aid processes.
Upward Bound focuses on identifying qualified youth who are low-income and potential first-generation college students in order to support and encourage them in pursuit of post-secondary enrollment. UB staff assists high school students in developing academic, social, and leadership skills in order to prepare them for post-secondary rigors, success and graduation.
Upward Bound Summer Program
We are proud of our summer program because it is an integral part of Upward Bound’s college success philosophy. Upward Bound students who attend the summer program improve their academic skill base and habits, become comfortable on a college campus, and learn to face their fears by trying new experiences. More importantly, Upward Bound students who complete the summer program are more likely to go to college.
The summer program offers a tremendous opportunity for learning, growth, and enjoyment. It also requires a strong commitment from the student to put full effort into the experience we look forward to growing with you this summer!
