I have italicized sample instructions to include in your course syllabus, review in class, and/or post to your canvas shell!

Important Exam Information: You will be required to take some exams for this course on campus. We are utilizing these services to provide a more flexible testing experience for you, so that you can ensure you are taking your exam when you are at your best! You will need to review our exam schedule that I listed below and submit a Exam Date & Time Reservation Request for each exam at least 1 week prior to the date and time of your seat reservation request. Step 4: Remind your students to submit their Seat Reservation Request at least 1 week before each exam window opens. Please know that we will be flexible in making accommodations as needed, but will ask for the reservation request as a means to stay organized and keep track of students coming in and out for safety reasons.

Step 5: Exam is administered and proctored by the Testing Center and delivered to you in your requested format.

Step 1: Student will communicate their test proctoring accommodation needs with you. It is recommended that you have a discussion about the accommodations and whether or not you will proctor their exam or if they will need to utilize the Testing Center to proctor. Please note: This decision should be mutually agreed upon between both the professor (you) and student. If you are not able to provide all approved accommodations, the proctoring should be handled through the Testing Center.

Step 2: Student will submit a Exam Date & Time Reservation Request for each exam at least 1 week prior to the date and time of the requested seat reservation.

Step 3: Professor will receive an email notification of student's reservation request and you will be prompted to fill out the Instructor Test Info tab in MyDSPS Faculty Portal. This will need to be completed at least 2 days before the student is scheduled to take the exam. Please Note: You may complete the Instructor Test Info tab prior to the student completing step 2. You will only need to complete Instructor Test Info once per exam and not multiple times for different students taking the same exam.

Equity-Minded Assessment Tools & Resources for Instructors

  • As we continue to focus on student equity- parity and equal educational outcomes for all racial/ethnic groups and other disproportionately impacted student groups at City College, we encourage instructional faculty continue to explore multiple options for students to demonstrate acquisition of knowledge and content mastery i.e. presentations, videos, posters, papers, open book exams, untimed exams etc.
  • The City College Testing Center will partner with instructional faculty to deliver and promote professional development and resources on best equity minded practices for assessing students' acquisition of knowledge and concept mastery throughout the semester and beyond!
  • Offer untimed Exams (Insert link to resource on untimed exams and benefits)
  • Creating and Delivering Online Exams
  • Creating quizzes or exams in Canvas with a question group to randomize is a great option to allow for more flexibility for students while maintaining exam integrity and security.
