Federal Deadlines
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the FAFSA form. Your college uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid. After submission, you will receive your Student Aid Report.
- 2021-22 Academic Year - FAFSA forms must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2022. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 10, 2022.
- 2020-21 Academic Year - FAFSA forms must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2021. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 11, 2021.
State Deadlines
Cal Grant Programs - A Cal Grant is money for college you do not have to pay back. To qualify, you must apply for the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by the deadline and meet the eligibility and financial requirements as well as any minimum GPA requirements. Cal Grants can be used at any University of California, California State University or California Community College, as well as qualifying independent and career colleges or technical schools in California.
- Application deadline for 2021-22 is 11:59 p.m. March 2, 2021
California Chafee Grant - If you are or were in foster care for at least one day, between the ages of 16 and 18 as a dependent or ward of the court and have financial need, you may qualify for up to $5,000 a year for career and technical training or college. You do not have to pay this money back. You may also be able to use your grant to help pay for childcare, transportation and rent while you are in school. You can use your Chafee Grant at any eligible California college or university or career or technical school, as well as schools in other states.

CA Dream Act Application - AB540 students can complete and submit the 2020-21 CADAA to be considered for other state aid. Once downloaded, we will contact you to let you know what other information may be needed to complete your file and disperse potential awards. California College Promise Grant (formerly Board of Governors Fee Waiver - BOG)
College Deadlines
San Diego Promise - The San Diego Promise is a two-year completion program for recent high school graduates enrolled full-time (12 units per semester). The program provides up to two years of free tuition to eligible students. Participation in the Promise program comes with a variety of benefits: an assigned peer mentor/success coach, specialized counseling and guidance support, and additional campus engagement opportunities.
CARES Act - The college provided grants in the amount of $300 to students who submitted a CARES Act application. Recipients are notified via email. Students who are eligible to file a FAFSA are encouraged to complete the application as soon as possible.
